Matcha is a special, finely ground powder which comes from the same plant as regular green tea and black tea, Camellia sinensis. Shade grown leaves gives matcha its characteristic bright green colour and strong flavour. Matcha originated from China and there is a long history of matcha being used by monks to aid meditation.
